Lisbon has excellent restaurants. Portuguese chefs have opened amazing places serving local cuisine, fusion, typical and non-typical spots, and let’s not forget the new international talent arriving daily in Lisbon!
I love the new international restaurants. Lisbon has found a way to make space for everyone. Food is such a great way to see what a city is all about and to learn about its social culture
My curated list of restaurants for dinner in Lisbon will take you to a few different neighborhoods where you can try local and international foods.
My list focuses on the food, not the prices.
Some restaurants are more expensive than others, so I have included all the links for you to research prices, read reviews and choose the best one for you.
Where to eat Tapas in Lisbon
Tapisco Chef Henrique’s tapas restaurant. Portuguese tapas with a touch of Spanish influence, accompanied by a great wine list.
Chef Henrique is a highly respected chef with several restaurants in Lisbon.
Imanol Barra Basca, authentic Spanish tapas, great for dinner and lunch. Very good. Great for solo diners and groups. Fun spot, good atmosphere. Great wines.
Touta Ballouta, Middle Eastern food. I love this restaurant and have been several times. Local and fresh veggies, a seasonal menu, and excellent Lebanese wines.
O Talho, the best meat restaurant in Lisbon!
Seen, Contemporary, modern, loud setting. But, Amazing black cod.
Mezze, a Middle Eastern food spot, is one of my favorite places in Lisbon.
Arkhe is an excellent vegetarian restaurant. They have a wonderful wine list, and I recommend you ask them to pair the wine with your dinner.
Canalha, a cozy bistro atmosphere, offers fantastic meat and fish dishes. Good wine list
Zunzum Gastrobar, Marlene Viera’s gastrobar. Great food and fun atmosphere.
Marlene Vierra has several restaurants in Lisbon as well as a place at the Time Out Market. You will have plenty of choices for your dinner in Lisbon!
Pigmeu is an excellent local restaurant, serving tapas-like small dishes made for sharing, with a twist on Portuguese cuisine.
The Oven Great food! Loved all the light curries and other dishes.
A Casa Nepalesa, this is my “go-to” restaurant.
Taberna do Quelha was my home away from home during my time in that area near Saldanha. It’s a typical Portuguese taberna, and you’ll love the owner’s wine, which comes from his own vineyard.
Fiammetta, excellent Italian food, and a small grocery as well.
Bottega di Gio is a family restaurant. Fantastic Italian food, excellent wines, and amazing desserts. I LOVE this place!
A Casa do Bacalhau is where to go for all sorts of tasty codfish!
São Rabanete, a family-run restaurant with an Eastern European influence, offers great cold soups for the Lisbon summer, as well as tasty meats, blinis, and more.
São Rabanete is also a great spot for the cold winter nights when you want light, tasty comfort foods.
Allora, amazing pasta. Truly special.
Honest Greens offers a variety of healthy dishes, cakes, and coffee. They are all over Lisbon and are an excellent option for those with good, healthy habits.
A mesa do CAM (at the Gulbenkian) The farm-to-table concept is great for going for tea and cake as well.
