Living Deliciously After 50!

About Marguerite Beaty

I am Marguerite, the photographer, artist, writer and, founder at 50 and Rising.

50 and Rising is a community for women over 50 (and 60+) to connect, share experiences, and explore what’s next in life.

I live in Lisbon, Portugal, a city that’s become close to my heart.

Life in Lisbon is great. There is so much to see and learn. People are friendly, there are fantastic restaurants and it’s a good walking city. The hills keep me young and agile even if I do go up swearing! 😀

I’m both Brazilian and American and have lived in Brazil, Argentina, Switzerland, New York, Miami, and different cities across Portugal. Moving around has shaped who I am and keeps me open to new experiences.

As I’ve moved from my 50s into my 60s, my curiosity and sense of adventure are as strong as ever – though I’ll admit, things move at a slightly more relaxed pace these days.

My latest adventure? Diving into the mysterious world of bridge!

About 50 and Rising

Life took an exciting turn in my late 50’s when I decided to take time off for a long trip.

I traveled across the UK and Europe and shared stories with many women who were going through similar experiences and feelings that I was.

We talked about being single after 50, divorce, marriage, cooking, hobbies and more. They inspired me to keep going, keep looking and to stay curious! And so I started 50 and rising.

Now, I share stories about living deliciously after the age of 50.
