Milkees Specialty Coffees and Cookies is one of the few places in Lisbon where they roast their beans. They offer a smooth, medium roast that’s worth trying.
Milkees serves breakfast, brunch, and lunch. Their chocolate chip cookies are a must-try, along with other pastries.
When I move to a new place, one of the first things I look for is a café to make my own. I like getting to know the people who work there, and it’s always a pleasure when they lead me to my favorite table. I bring a notebook and pen to draw, but never a computer—cafés feel like places to unwind and enjoy the moment. My coffee rituals, whether a cappuccino or espresso, are part of the experience. If you’re in the Saldanha area,Milkees is an excellent spot to adopt as your local neighborhood cafe.
Milkees cafe is bright, with large glass doors that let in sunlight. There are plenty of plants, and the atmosphere is friendly and clean. You can choose to sit indoors or outdoors.
You are welcome to bring your computer when you come for coffee and cakes or a meal. The staff is welcoming and accommodating.
Um Cafe: a single espresso
Bica: A local Lisbon expression for espresso
Um abatanado: Similar to Americano, less water
Galão: Tall glass, 1 shot of espresso and lots of milk
Pingado: Espresso with a few drops of milk
Descafeinado: Decaf coffee
Rua Filipe Folque, 78
Blue line: Parque is the closest; you can also get the yellow line: Picoas.
Milkees is in the Saldanha near the El Corte Ingles and my favorite park, Parque Eduardo VII. It’s also just a block from the best flower shop in Lisbon, Cais das Flores.
