Touta Ballouta: The spectacular Lebanese restaurant in Lisbon!

Table of Contents

Touta Ballouta: Modern Lebanese cuisine with a fantastic French influence and a Portuguese touch.

Dining out is more than just a meal—it’s a journey through flavors, aromas, and traditions that connect us to cultures near and far. Sharing a table, tasting unfamiliar spices, and savoring creative combinations is like taking a trip without leaving your seat.

Food has a magical way of uniting people, sparking conversations, and creating memories. At Touta Ballouta, this experience comes alive. From the moment you step in, you’re not just eating—you’re exploring a story told through dishes that blend artistry, and a bit of mystery.

The food at Touta Ballouta

Our table shared all the dishes; some of us were more restrained than others! But sharing is the best way to eat at Touta.

Lebanese fries: These little squares take days to prepare but disappear in seconds. Once I learned about the effort involved, I felt guilty eating them too quickly. So, I slowed down, and that’s when I noticed how delicate they were—the thick, crunchy crust giving way to a soft, melt-in-your-mouth center and a slight lemony taste. You will love these fries!

If I had been dining solo, I would have quickly polished off the entire bowl and asked for seconds!

Smoky Baba Ganoush looked like a delicate little bird’s nest, topped with fresh greens and grated carrots, all drizzled generously with rich, flavorful olive oil. It was almost too pretty to eat—almost! The Baba Ganoush came with a basket of bread, which we used to clean up the fantastic sauces from all the dishes.

We couldn’t resist ordering the Icelandic cod after seeing Tout’s beautiful photograph of the dish on Instagram.

The cod was tender, perfectly seasoned, and paired with a mysterious green sauce that enhanced the whole dish. I highly recommend this one—it’s unlike any cod I’ve had in Portugal. The texture was spot-on, not too salty, and the mix of herbs and spices made it so special. As for that green sauce? I still have no idea what’s in it, but then again, I love a mystery!

Are you a fan of all things cheese? Then you’re in for a treat with their “crackling cheese bonbons”— that’s the official description!

The stuffed courgette was delicious, and we finished our meal with a decadent chocolate dessert and their soothing homemade herbal tea.

I bought the tea, and it’s now my afternoon favorite!

The atmosphere at Touta Ballouta

The restaurant is divided into several rooms, each with its vibe.

You’ll enter the cozy dining area with an open kitchen, where you can watch the chef create her magic as you eat. Next, you’ll find a smaller room with a bar.

Keep on walking into a larger room with a communal dining table and smaller tables.

I have met so many interesting people at communal tables, and it’s fun to see what others order and chat about the food.

The last room has a long table with shelves of homemade pickled jars, preserves, teas, and other goodies for sale. Pop into that last room before you leave.

The staff at Touta Ballouta make you feel at home from the moment you walk in and take care of you like you’re their only guest. I’ve been lucky enough to dine here a few times, and every visit has been a treat.
