Lebanese food is healthy, aromatic and delicious! Lebanese restaurants are popping up faster than anything else in Lisbon—and I couldn’t be happier about it!
Each spot brings its own twist, with some offering traditional recipes straight from grandma’s kitchen while others blend Lebanese flavors with French finesse and Portuguese soul. The result? A culinary fusion that’s downright irresistible.
For this month’s 50 and Rising marketing-and-keep-me-sane meeting, I headed to Barouk, a Lebanese restaurant tucked away in the fun Lx Factory. My trusty web consultant, Gui from Webiwant, joined me. Fun fact: Gui and his partner Gael are the secret sauce behind my blog’s growth—so, thank you, readers, for being part of this journey!
Now, let’s get to the good stuff: the food.
We decided to sit outside because heaters + Lisbon’s December chill = cozy perfection.
The waiter arrived with an enormous balloon bread, warm and puffed up like a cloud. It came with three sauces: a spicy number, a creamy yogurt-based dip, and a lighter oil-and-vinegar concoction. I, of course, attacked the bread with my bare hands before Gui kindly pointed out the scissors on the table. Lesson learned: scissors equal perfectly portioned bread slices. Learning how to eat Lebanese food properly 🙂
Falafel: Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and paired with a light, garlicky chickpea dip. Heaven on a plate.
Harra Fries: You’re missing out if you haven’t had these yet. Slightly spicy, perfectly square potato bites served with a tangy mayo sauce. Imagine fries leveled up.
Skewers: Juicy and flavorful, served with a pinkish chickpea dip and a vibrant green salad sprinkled with tiny ruby-red pomegranate seeds.
Everything came out beautifully timed, and we shared all the dishes—a true mezze experience!
Think of mezze as Lebanese tapas. These small dishes are for sharing, so you can sample a little of everything. And honestly, isn’t sharing what food is all about?
Outdoor Seating: Minimalist, with green metal tables and chairs. Perfect for people-watching.
Indoor Vibes: Modern industrial meets clean, understated elegance. The cozy interior is a great backup if it’s too cold outside.
The staff at Barouk? Lovely. Attentive without being intrusive and always ready with a smile. You’ll feel well taken care of.
First of all the Lebanese food here is very good! It’s fresh, flavorful, and perfect for sharing.
Whether you’re meeting friends, hosting a casual business lunch, or even dining solo (sometimes a girl just needs her falafel fix!), Barouk ticks all the boxes.
And if you’re already exploring Lx Factory, why not make a day of it? Browse the shops, snap some photos of the street art, and don’t miss that bookstore—it’s the kind of place that makes you spend hours browsing.
So, my advice? Bring your appetite, a sense of adventure, and maybe a friend to share it all with. Who knows, you might even fall in love with Lebanese food like I did!
