Where to sit in Lisbon

Lisbon is a city to be enjoyed at a slower pace. These are places I go to when I want to sit, rest, and take in the city for awhile.

  • Park: Jardim da Estrela
  • Cafe: Principe Real
  • Kiosk: Campo de Ourique
  • Viewpoint: Almada
  • Bench: Jardim Janelas Verdes
  • Best libraries (to sit in Lisbon,  get out of the heat or bad weather)

Jardim da Estrela

Jardim da Estrela is my favorite park to sit  in Lisbon, and to walk. There different paths for exercising, kiosks, beautiful plants, flowering trees and it’s lively. Go on a weekend and get a taste of the real Lisbon life.

Café Esplanada

Café Esplanada, Principe Real park is a great place to sit in Lisbon. I love to sit under those huge trees while I have a cup of coffee, sketch and take a break from everything.

Best Kiosk

The Kiosk in Campo de Ourique is a must for coffee, beer, snacks and pastries. The Kiosk is a good spot to sit in Lisbon. You will enjoy seeing people playing lively games of cards at the tables nearby, kids running around, dogs, the pond and all that shade. 

Best place to sit in Lisbon with a viewpoint of Lisbon

The best viewpoint of Lisbon is the one from the Almada near the Christ statue. Sit near the Christ and enjoy the best view of Lisbon.

Best bench to rest, and sit  in Lisbon with the view of the Tejo

The best bench to sit in Lisbon is the one is the one at the Jardim das Janelas Verdes across from the Museu Nacional de Arte Antiga And it has the best view of the River Tejo.

The best libraries for a quiet rest in Lisbon

Chiado

Biblioteca Camões

 It has a beautiful view of Lisbon roof tops and the River Tejo as well as being a good spot to rest.

Alcantara (near LX and Belem)

Biblioteca de Alcântara , José Dias Coelho

Avenida Novas, near Praç da Espanha

Biblioteca Palacio Galvieas 

It’s a beautiful building and worth your visit. 

Campo Grande

Biblioteca Nacional 

Taking time to sit and pause changes how you visit Lisbon. Plan for good sitting spots under the shade, from breakfast to dinner and Lisbon will feel very special.
