It’s a new year and a new decade so I’m thinking about my diet and my lifestyle.
I have started to gain a little extra weight every year. Every time I travel I gain a few pounds and when I get home I have a hard time losing those pounds but I do maintain my new weight. I ‘m not too sure that is such a good thing.
one diet at a time, diet
I also started to have more weight issues after my 50’s because of my thyroid, slower metabolism and a natural passion for sweet things. I’ve heard that age does these things to you.
My family started a Whatsapp group and we even have our own logo. We log our weight every Friday morning but some members have been forgetting to log their weight so we all send messages to remind them not to abandon our lovely group and our mission. It’s been a challenge for some.
I loved my sister’s idea of the group because we have gotten a lot closer as a family and we share other things too. Our group has become more of a family chat with a side mission.
New Year… New…New Diet!
I have tried many different diets throughout my life.
I was a macrobiotic many years ago. It was such a challenge because I did not know any other macrobiotic people and it was a very lonely venture but I never felt so well and so strong!
I followed a vegetarian diet, a fruit diet and all sorts of other things and decided that I really needed to create a way of eating that allows me to enjoy food the way I like to and to maintain my weight (once I get to it).
one diet at a time
I have come to the conclusion that the best way to eat is to eat a little bit of everything and to enjoy everything while you eat it. My issue is how to get to that ideal way of eating. I am working on this one step at a time.
There are many people that don’t like to call a diet a diet and I don’t have an issue with that word at all. I look at a diet as a way to control the intake of delicious food while you are trying to lose weight… It’s not the word that makes me stuck.
one diet at a time
I have been using the Fitness Pal app for a long time. This app allows me to see the food’s calories and components quickly so that I can make a decision about what to order or if I really want to splurge. For example: I eat more tangerines than chocolates nowadays!
I log my exercises and try not to think that just because I exercised I can eat more.
Noom. I was totally drawn towards them by their advertisements on Instagram. After a little research and reading their reviews I decided to give them a try. I did not like their coaching at all because I felt like they were writing to me from some sort of script. The questions didn’t address my issues directly. They replied with questions and I did not relate to that so I cancelled the trial.
I am staying with Fitness Pal and my family group!
The Health App on my iphone allows me to control the amount of exercise and daily walks that I do.
Headspace is my favourite meditation app.
I listen to Deepak Chopra books on tape because they have been helping me to focus and to stay on track with the things that are important to me.
