Easy packing tips for Lisbon in the fall
Practical packing ideas for women over 50 who want to travel light, stay comfortable and still enjoy putting together great looks in Lisbon.
Lisbon in autumn
Layers, comfort and a little colour
Lisbon is moody during autumn. You will get all sorts of weather, so packing well is less about taking more clothes and more about choosing pieces that work together.
I focus on comfortable layers, a simple colour palette and a few brighter accessories that let me change a look without carrying half my wardrobe.

Packing for Lisbon in the fall: Think layers
Study the weather channels before you start packing for Lisbon. The Portuguese weather service IPMA is a useful place to check conditions before your trip.
Choose your personal colour combinations
I focus on neutral colours and pack a few bright things to change my looks. One of my favourite combinations for an autumn trip is olive green, black and white.
A scarf with tones of red adds colour and contrast. I also take a few larger earrings, a tiny pair and some fun necklaces.
If I need something, I can purchase it during my trip.
Simple colour palettes
- Gray, black and white
- Black, beige and white
- Black, gray and dark blue
- Dark blue, gray and white
- Dark green, beige and white

Skirts or shorts?
When packing for Lisbon in the fall, I prefer travelling with a skirt rather than shorts or bermudas.
I am a big fan of skirts because you can wear them for sightseeing and change the top for a fancier evening look.
What if Lisbon's weather has other plans?
Don't worry. If the weather does not match the forecast, you can always purchase something in Lisbon.
The important thing is to pack enough versatile layers to adapt throughout the day without carrying too much.
