How to create a Lisbon capsule wardrobe, with Soulmood, for your spring trip

If you are planning a trip and wondering what to wear in Lisbon spring, this guide will give you both inspiration and a practical approach.

Lisbon is a city where you walk a lot, so comfortable but stylish outfits make all the difference.

I always look for clothes that travel well, feel good, and work in different settings, including my day-to-day at home. Soulmood is one of the best places to find all this.

What happens when a sculptor (and textile designer), an architect, and a manager get together in Lisbon?

They open the most interesting conceptual stores in the city, right in Chiado.
Soulmood is, without question, one of my favorite stores in Lisbon.
This is where I go for the necklaces and rings I wear all the time, and where I find tops, trousers, and pieces that make getting dressed easy and elegant.

Lisbon shopping

Soulmood is a concept store that opened in 2010. The founders, a sculptor and textile designer, an architect, and a manager, were looking for clothes that felt creative, wearable, and reasonably priced. Lisbon had plenty of fashion stores then, just as it does now, but they couldn’t find what they were looking for. So they created it.

At Soulmood, you will find European designers such as Rundoholz, Oska, elemente clemente, Neirami, Lofina, and Mama b.

The focus is on pieces that are easy to wear, well-made, and not tied to fast fashion. They are also so chic and perfect for the woman over 50, and women of all ages.

What to wear in Lisbon for spring

I stopped by Soulmood to put together a few ideas for you, and yes, also for myself. I had a small ulterior motive.

I am traveling in May and wanted to build a small travel capsule for a trip to London.

The goal was simple, pieces that mix well, travel well, and work from morning to evening without much effort, just like I did for my trip to Bologna, but with clothes from Soulmood.

What is spring weather like in Lisbon?

The weather in Lisbon changes throughout the day: mornings are cool, afternoons are warmer, and evenings can be chilly.

Check the weather in Portugal in March, April and May before you pack.

Layers make everything easier and stylish.
You will take things off during the day and put them back on later on. A small, well-planned wardrobe will save you time and space.

What to pack for a trip to Lisbon for spring; without overpacking

You do not need a large suitcase for Lisbon. A few well-chosen pieces will take you far. A Lisbon capsule wardrobe makes getting dressed simple and leaves space for you to shop while you are here. Lisbon has excellent stores.

You don’t need to pack everything, you can shop in Lisbon.

Here are two small capsules I created using pieces from Soulmood. They work together, which means fewer items and more options.

Lisbon capsule wardrobe  in Blues, blacks, and whites

  • Blue patterned lightweight skirt suit
  • Light blue t-shirt
  • Blue lightweight summer sweater
All the blue pieces look good with everything in capsule 1. You can make many combinations with these few pieces.

Add a warm cashmere pashmina or thin wool scarf, a few necklaces, earrings, and a lightweight cashmere sweater, and you are good to go. You can go from day to evening with these two capsules.

For women over 50, a simple and elegant capsule wardrobe makes travel simpler. You don’t need many pieces, just the right ones.

Finding the right fit for you

I like a slightly oversized look, but if you prefer a more fitted style, you can combine a fitted with a loose piece.
Pair one relaxed item with something structured.

A note on comfort and visiting Lisbon

Loose clothing is practical. You can walk, sit anywhere, and move freely. The loose trousers can be worn to a last-minute yoga class and out to dinner.

Shopping in Lisbon

What I like about Soulmood is that everything is carefully curated.

You can build a small wardrobe that works for travel, daily life, and those moments when you want to feel a bit more put-together without trying too hard.

Create your small capsule wardrobes that matches with what you have and that is great for travel and your daily life.

I have written about other places to shop in Lisbon and I will be sharing more of my favorite shops in Lisbon so you can build your wardrobe as you explore the city.
