CBD, and what older women need to know.
As we get older, many of us deal with more aches, pains, and general discomfort. It can be frustrating when doctors cannot help or offer solutions that do not work.
So, we look for solutions because who wants to feel bad?
This is where CBD (cannabidiol) comes in.
It’s an option for many looking to ease different symptoms. But because CBD isn’t regulated, it’s hard to know what to buy or how to use it.
I’m going to start this article by saying this is not a medical research! This is more of a rambling.
Some women have said CBD oil has helped at night because they stopped waking up drenched in sweat at 3am.
I wish that were me- nothing worked for me! And here’s the thing about CBD and any medication:
Some meds will work for you and others won’t. So, unfortunately, you (we) have to keep searching until we find the right one.
Menopausal anxiety is tough because it’s all about your hormones going haywire!
I talked to a woman who was prescribed antidepressants. She said she had terrible side effects from the medication and didn’t understand how an antidepressant was supposed to help her with her hormonal issues and the most important part of it all was she wasn’t depressed.
She got off her meds and tried CBD oil and has been taking it for a year now. She said she takes a small dose and feels well.
CBD is Cannabidiol. It’s an ingredient from the hemp (marijuana) plant. The oil does not contain THC.
It won’t get you high and it’s not addictive.
It’s a prescription drug in the US.
CDB is a chemical in the hemp flower and leaves.
THC is the ingredient in the marijuana plant that gets you high.
Start with one or two drops a day and increase as needed.
Be aware of any side effects when introducing this medication.
If a doctor prescribes the oil follow their instructions.
You’ll find CBD stores in many European countries, some states in the US . You can buy it online. These stores all claim to have the best products for different conditions.
Remember that CBD is not regulated.
You have to do your own research, read the reviews and choose your source carefully because it’s not regulated.
I don’t have resources about where to purchase CBD.
Insomnia, anxiety and inflammation are some of the most common uses for CBD.
I did not find any research for older women and men, ageing and geriatrics in general.
My thoughts are that like all medication you should talk to a doctor before trying anything.
Seizures: The only CBD approved by the US FDA is Epidiolex
I’m always looking for a solution to my insomnia and I tried CBD oil for a bit.
I tried different dosages, took it in the afternoon, changed it to evening, took a break and then tried again. I had no side effects. But sadly it didn’t work for me.
I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments!
My unscientific research came from talking to friends, two doctors, people I don’t know and articles on the net.
OK! That’s out of the way.
