The photo journal course
is starting soon!

The course: Your Story Starts Here

This is a thought-provoking and self-discovery journey that will use photography as a tool for self-expression.

This is a course for women over 50 and over 60 looking for a way to express themselves, develop their photo hobby, and be part of a community. The course will inspire you to explore your ideas and use photography as a tool to tell your story.

Think of this as a creativity retreat.

You will have three weeks of sharing, creating and, chatting weekly in a private online group with me, and you will have a weekly one-on-one with me.

  • This brand-new course will have a maximum of 8 people in class, making it fun and easy to connect.

  •  You will use your mobile phone camera for this course.

  •  You do not need to have an understanding of art, nor have a photography background.

  •  You do need to know how to use your mobile phone and apps.

How does the class work?

You will get daily photography prompts and photograph with your mobile camera.

What if I can’t photograph daily?

You can photograph a few prompts in one day, skip a day, or plan to do several images at your leisure. You will only share one photo during our weekly group meetings so, if you can only do one image that week, you will be fine- but the more you photograph, the better it is!

How much time does it take to do one photograph for the class?

You can do your photo prompt in 5 minutes, one hour, or more.  It’s up to you!

For example, let’s say that your daily prompt is to photograph reflections but, you have a busy day ahead and no time to create an image.

  • Go to your mirror and photograph your reflection.

  • You can take a photo of the reflections on a store window and include yourself (or not).

  • Let’s say that you are walking on the street, you see a car, lower yourself and take a selfie on the side mirror that includes details of the street.

It’s that simple!

This course is for those of you who want to tap into your creativity and express yourselves visually.

We are all creative
and have a story to tell.

My name is Marguerite, and I’ll be the facilitator for the photo journaling course, Your Story starts here.

I am a part American and part Brazilian photographer living in Portugal. I have exhibited my work, photographed professionally, and taught workshops and private classes. I believe that photography is all about how you show what you see an how you feel about it.

The creative photo journal class will help you:

  • Add emotion to your images

  • Use color and light to describe a mood

  • Feel confident about your photography

  • Look for situations that will make a good photograph

  • Set up photographs to describe a moment or a memory

  • Understand your creative flow

  • Be aware of your feelings and how you portray them

This is a good course for you if:

  • You have been looking for a creative outlet and haven’t found one.

  • You want to tell visual stories.

  • You want to develop your photo hobby.

  • You are tired of the same old photos you take and, want to tap into your creativity.

  • You want to express yourself differently.

What this is not:

  • This is not a mobile technical class, so you must know how to use your mobile camera.

  • This is not a video self-learning class, I will be present and we will have meetings online.

We will be working together for 3 weeks

  • The one-on-one sessions with me will help you develop your critical thinking and take your image-making to the next level.

  • The daily photo prompts will spark your creativity and your ideas.

  • Our Facebook group will be private, exclusive and will only be open during your three-week course. It will allow you to meet like-minded students while we discuss photography, it’s the ideal place to share our images and post questions.
